> Andernach and its Surroundings

Andernach Andernach is one of the oldest German towns and looks back on more than 2000 years of history on the banks of the River Rhine.

Approaching the town visitors are welcomed by the impressive medieval walls which surround it. Further sights of historic Andernach not to be missed are the round peel tower called Runder Turm built in the 15th century, the catholic parish church Mariendom and the Alten Krahnen, the old crane which had been used for 350 years to load the Rhine barges with the much sought after millstones or other products of volcanic origin.

Today Andernach is a busy town offering a wide range of shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Colourful bustling streets and traffic-free zones as well as the

well-kept gardens and parks - which belong to the nicest along the River Rhine

- invite visitors for a stroll.

BulwarkThe attraction of Andernach lies in its unique geographical position between the River Rhine and the Eifel which offers a wide range of recreation opportunities, its beautiful fairs and festivals and last but not least the hospitality of the people living in the region.
